A commemorative event titled “Khojaly – The Revival Passing Through Our Blood” was held at the Faculty of Engineering of Azerbaijan State Agricultural University (ADAU), organized by the Main Library.
During the event, the cherished memory of the martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan was honored with a minute of silence.
The Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, Tavakkul Islamov, stated in his speech that the Khojaly tragedy remains an unhealed wound in the memory of the Azerbaijani people. He emphasized that the bloody события of February 26, 1992, were a grave crime directed not only against the Azerbaijani people but against humanity as a whole.
Later, the Head of the Department of Social Sciences, Elgun Aslanov, noted that the Khojaly genocide is one of the most tragic pages in the history of Azerbaijan. He stressed that the city of Khojaly is now reviving and regaining life, which demonstrates the unbreakable will of the Azerbaijani people and the strength of the state.
Professors Siyasat Mammadov and Ziyad Abbasov emphasized that educating the younger generation in the spirit of patriotism is one of the main responsibilities of higher education institutions. They highlighted the importance of students deeply understanding historical truths and being shaped by loyalty to national values.
The event also featured speeches by the Director of the Library Kamil Mammadov, Associate Professor of the Department of Social Sciences Sevda Abdullayeva, and Senior Lecturer of the Department of Energy and Electrical Engineering, participant of the First Karabakh War Arzu Ismayilov, who called on young people not to forget their history and to remain loyal to the state and the homeland.
At the end of the event, students recited poems dedicated to the Khojaly genocide.
