The department of "Electrical engineering" was established in 2008 on the basis of the departments "Application of electric energy in agriculture" and "Automation of production processes". In 1936, was organized the department ”Application of electric energy in agriculture". An important role in the organization of the department and its development was played by associate professor B.M. Mustafayev, who for a long time headed the department, had merits in strengthening the scientific and pedagogical potential. From 1987 to 1990, the department was headed by associate professor of the department of "Electrification of agriculture" A.M.Abbasov He also served as dean of the faculty of "Agricultural electrification" from 1990 to 1994.

The laboratory of operation of electrical equipment and electrical materials of the department is equipped with devices and equipment for testing electrical machines and protective launchers.

Lecture halls are equipped with modern computer equipment for interactive classes, as well as equipped with smart boards. For the effective organization of training at the department, the teaching staff wrote textbooks, manuals, training programs and methodological guidelines.

Currently, the department is headed by associate professor Fakhraddin Murad Yusibov.

The department employs 13 faculty members, including 9 PhD and associate professors (2 ADAU professors), 1 senior lecturer and 2 assistants.
