A scientific-practical seminar was held at the Electrical Engineering Department of the Faculty of Engineering of the Azerbaijan State Agricultural University (ADAU) on the occasion of October 20 - Power Engineers’ Day.
It was noted at the seminar that on October 20, 1981 under the initiative and direct leadership of great leader Heydar Aliyev the first power unit of "Azerbaijan" thermal power plant was put into exploitation which laid the foundation of a new stage in the development of the energy sector of Azerbaijan. Setting this date in our country by Decree of President Ilham Aliyev dated October 13, 2004 as the Day of Power Engineers is another glorious page of our national energy chronicle, expression of high value attached by the leadership of the country to the selfless activity of people working in this sphere.
The national leader Heydar Aliyev in all the periods of his leadership in Azerbaijan paid special attention to the development of our country's energy complex, including the power system, and carried out unprecedented creative work in this field. Social and economic reforms outlined by the great leader and successfully implemented at the present time by President Ilham Aliyev are aimed at strengthening and reinforcing Azerbaijan. Excellent programs have been developed on the initiative and under the leadership of the head of the state for all branches of the economy, including the power industry.
